Afternoon Sparkle

This week the weather was great and the color is really starting to come on in the mountains and a little bit in the valley. I headed over to my old main stay the Weiser River and decided to see how the color was looking. While the main trees are still a couple of weeks off the underbrush was really starting to turn.

I was looking for something interesting to paint when I say the sunlight shimmering off the water. It nearly blinded me but I thought it would be a great challenge to see if I could pull off the "sparkle" effect. The challenge with this is to not go blind from the glare. I had to look at the subject and then look away for a while so my eyes could adjust.

In the end, it was another great fall afternoon on the river.

  1. I love the golden yellows of the trees with the blue of the river. It creates harmony and then the reflected sun creates a great focal point.
