Weiser River

"Weiser River" 10 x 8 in.

For anyone who follows my blog you probably know about half of my paintings come from the Weiser River and this week is no exception. I decided to head toward Tamarack, ID. Tamarack is not really a town it's actually a saw mill. However, it's on road signs and maps. Near the "town" of Tamarack is where the Weiser River begins. The river is much small up here but just as beautiful. Add in the fall color and it's a painters dream.

An added attraction is the Weiser River Trail System. It runs along the river for much of it's length and provides great access. I painted for much of the morning but in the afternoon I just walked along the trail. I listened to the birds chirp and watched as native Redband Trout lazily passed the time away in the deep pools.

For those who are interested, I posted a video of this painting on my youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJHZGpKFdYc&feature=feedu and if you are interested in the Weiser River Trail System here is their website too http://weiserrivertrail.org/.

  1. Gregg,
I think this has got to be my favorite painting of yours. I love how you handled the foliage and the water. The colors are beautiful and the composition is very apealing. Great painting!
