"Winter's Arrival" 12 x 24 in.
I have yet to see a winter like the winter of 2012. It has been one of the strangest winters I've ever experienced in Idaho. For a good six to eight weeks we had sunshine and no snow. It was absolutely perfect for a painter but horrible if you're a skier (in fact our local ski hill was losing something like a $100,000 dollars a day!).
When we did get some snow, I headed up to the mountains to try and capture some of it. I found Mores Creek half frozen and covered with the white stuff. So I pulled over and hiked down an embankment to paint this scene. It was surprisingly warm and comfortable for much of the morning. I stood right smack in the middle of the river while I painted this.....good thing there was a foot of ice beneath me.

Your winter scenes are terrific. I'm glad you got some snow. It has been in the 70s here this week.
